Ghanaian musician Keche Joshua has announced that he will no longer feature Nigerian artists in his songs. He explained that the decision is based on what he sees as an imbalance in support between the two music industries.

According to him, Nigerian musicians enjoy widespread recognition and patronage in Ghana. Their music dominates local airwaves and attracts significant audiences, but Ghanaian acts rarely receive the same exposure in Nigeria.

Keche Joshua believes this one-sided relationship has created an unfair playing field for Ghanaian musicians. By consistently giving space to Nigerian artists, he argued, the local industry is weakened rather than empowered.

As a result, he has resolved to focus solely on collaborations with his fellow Ghanaian artists. He maintains that the local music scene is filled with talent capable of producing songs that can rival international standards.

Industry observers see his stance as part of a growing conversation about protecting and promoting Ghana’s creative space. Several Ghanaian musicians have previously raised similar concerns about the lack of reciprocity in cross-border collaborations.

For Keche Joshua, the shift represents not only a personal decision but also a call for greater recognition of Ghanaian talent. He hopes that prioritizing local partnerships will contribute to strengthening the industry and boosting its visibility across Africa.
