Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, has affirmed that his candidate continues to enjoy unmatched popularity among the party base and the wider Ghanaian electorate. He described the former Assin Central MP as the “people’s candidate” due to his strong grassroots appeal and relatability.

According to Mr Kwarteng, the evidence of Agyapong’s widespread support can be found in everyday conversations across churches, mosques, markets, and schools. “If you bring Ken Agyapong, we will vote for him. That is what Ghanaians are saying,” he asserted, urging political observers to take note of the growing momentum behind his campaign.

He maintained that Agyapong’s longstanding engagement with ordinary Ghanaians and his down-to-earth persona have earned him deep loyalty. “He is not just a politician; he’s a voice and a representative of the common Ghanaian,” Kwarteng stated confidently.

Meanwhile, the NPP has officially launched its nomination process for the 2026 presidential primaries, marking a key milestone in the lead-up to the 2028 general elections. The announcement was made by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, following a joint meeting by the National Executive Committee and the National Council on Friday, 25 July.

As per the outlined timetable, the primaries are scheduled to take place on Saturday, 31 January 2026, across all 276 constituencies. The party has promised a fair and transparent process guided by a comprehensive set of rules designed to maintain order and unity within the party as it selects its next flagbearer.
