AdubianewsThe Ashanti Regional Police Command has successfully dismantled a criminal network responsible for a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts across Kumasi.
The syndicate, made up of Nigerian nationals and one Ghanaian, targeted individuals after they exited banks, trailing them and stealing cash from their parked cars.
According to police reports, the suspects used Toyota Highlander vehicles fitted with fake number plates to commit their crimes without raising suspicion. After weeks of surveillance, a joint operation led to the arrest of three key suspects, Russell Ekenze, Francis Friday, and Linus Agwazie, on June 19, 2025.
Two additional individuals, Gifty Ozurumbam and Gladys Ibrahim, were later arrested for obstructing police investigations, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to five. One member of the syndicate remains at large.
The police are continuing investigations in partnership with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command to uncover the full scope of the gang’s operations and track down the remaining accomplice.
This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on organized criminal activity targeting financial institutions and their clients in urban areas.
