New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful Kwabena Agyepong has described himself as an “eternal optimist” as he prepares for the party’s upcoming presidential primaries, insisting that challenges will not dampen his confidence.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Monday, the engineer and former party executive opened up about the realities of contesting in a highly competitive political race, admitting that the journey has come with significant personal and financial demands.
Mr Agyepong acknowledged that, unlike some of his competitors, he does not command unlimited resources. However, he emphasized that his campaign is sustained by strong goodwill and the backing of individuals who believe in his political ideals.
“I’m a very modest person,” he said. “Of course, resources are limited, but I have a lot of good people who believe in my political philosophy and are supporting and helping me.”
Despite opinion polls that appear to narrow the race to just two leading contenders, the NPP aspirant remains unfazed. He argued that such surveys should not be mistaken for final outcomes, stressing that the true measure of support will only be revealed on election day.
“I am an eternal optimist, and I always believe that the real poll will be on the 31st of January,” Mr Agyepong stated.
He further explained that opinion polls are primarily tools for assessing public sentiment and policy impact, rather than definitive predictors of electoral results.
