A late-night vehicle fire near the University of Ghana’s Sports Stadium on Friday left a car completely burnt, drawing swift intervention from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The incident occurred at exactly 10:17 p.m. on July 25, 2025, when the Legon Fire Station received a distress call reporting a vehicle engulfed in flames within the campus grounds.

Within a minute, a fire appliance was deployed to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the car fully consumed by fire, with both the engine bay and interior ablaze.

“The crew responded with precision and urgency,” the GNFS stated in a Facebook update. Thanks to their prompt action, the flames were extinguished within four minutes, preventing damage to nearby structures and ensuring public safety.

Although there were no reported injuries, the car was left severely damaged, with large sections burned beyond recognition.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the GNFS has launched an investigation to determine what sparked the blaze.

Officials are urging the public to remain cautious, avoid burning vehicles, and report fire outbreaks immediately due to the risk of explosions and exposure to toxic fumes.
