The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has claimed that the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been holding crunch meetings with the former President, John Dramani Mahama over the Airbus saga.

The meetings, Chairman Wontumi, as he is known and called said are aimed at finding a means of diverting attention from the Airbus saga ‘so they can continue to sell their flagbearer in peace’.
According to Chairman Wontumi, the leadership of the NDC is unhappy that the 2020 flagbearer of the party is engrossed in such an international scandal.

He further alleged that the publication of John Mahama’s picture on the front page of the newspapers in the United Kingdom (UK) has been the last straw that has broken the back of the NDC leadership.
The Sun newspaper, in its latest edition on Tuesday, also reports that an international arrest warrant has been issued by Ghanaian authorities for the arrest of four people, including John Mahama’s brother for questioning.

The four British nationals, including former President Mahama’s brother, are wanted by Ghanaian authorities for questioning for their roles in allegedly bribing Ghanaian government officials to the tune of £5million.

The four, allegedly led by the former President’s brother, played the role of middlemen to facilitate the £50 million sale of three Airbus C-295 military planes to Ghana.
The Sun reported that former President Mahama allegedly had links with the middlemen who facilitated the payments of bribes to key government officials when he was Vice President.
“Former Ghana president John Dramani Mahama is accused of having links to a corrupt network which received kickbacks during the contract process,” reported the Sun.

This report, Wontumi speaking on Kumasi-based Wontumi FM monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com said has been given the NDC sleepless nights hence the numerous meetings.
He said the party decided at that meeting to divert attention from this saga by continuously attacking the EC.

“There has been a meeting held between John Mahama and some NDC big wigs, they just want to attack the EC as a means of diverting attention from the Airbus saga…,” he alleged.
