His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, has charged Ghana’s newly appointed envoys to lead with integrity, fairness, and accountability as they represent the nation across the globe.
Addressing the swearing-in ceremony of 15 Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Consul-Generals at Jubilee House on Thursday, he reminded them that the country’s image abroad is shaped not only through diplomacy but also by their daily conduct and leadership.
“Your staff must be guided with fairness, respect, and a sense of shared purpose. The image of Ghana abroad is not only shaped by what you say, but also how you manage, serve, and uphold the dignity of every Ghanaian citizen under your care,” he said.
The President stressed that the missions must reflect the values being promoted at home—ethical leadership, transparency, and responsible governance. He underlined that integrity should be their guiding principle, reminding them that the Public Financial Management Act and related regulations must direct their stewardship of public resources.
Mahama further urged the diplomats to safeguard the public purse, ensuring that every expenditure serves Ghana’s national interest. He emphasized the need for diligence in managing resources responsibly, while delivering services that are both efficient and responsive.
“I urge you to guard the public purse with diligence and ensure that efficient service and ethical governance—the very values we are entrenching at home—shine through in every mission abroad,” he added.
