President John Mahama has directed the immediate termination of all existing contracts between the government and Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) following the conclusion of investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The directive, contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, and addressed to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, emphasized that all contractual engagements with SML must be promptly brought to an end.
According to the letter, the decision reflects the government’s renewed commitment to upholding accountability, transparency, and proper management of public funds. The move comes after months of public scrutiny and an extensive probe by the OSP into alleged corruption and related offences surrounding the SML contracts.
The Finance Minister has been tasked to ensure that the termination process is carried out in full compliance with all legal and financial procedures. The presidency has also assured Ghanaians that this action forms part of broader efforts to restore confidence in the management of state resources.
