Scene of house fire in Dunkwa-Akyempim where man allegedly burned family

The Dunkwa-Akyempim community in Ghana’s Central Region has been thrown into mourning after a man allegedly set his wife and six children ablaze before taking his own life.

According to residents, the horrific incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday. Witnesses reported that the man is believed to have poured petrol inside the room where his family was sleeping, locked the door, and set the entire house on fire.

Neighbors who rushed to the scene could do little to save the victims as the flames quickly engulfed the building, leaving the family trapped inside.

Shortly after the fire was contained, locals discovered the lifeless body of the man hanging from a tree in a nearby bush, suspected to have committed suicide after committing the gruesome act.
