A tragic accident occurred on the Pokuase-Accra highway this morning when a man was struck and killed by a speeding vehicle near the Pokuase ACP area. Reports indicate that the victim ignored the pedestrian footbridge and attempted to cross the busy road.
Eyewitnesses say the driver of the vehicle did not stop after the collision and fled the scene immediately. The unidentified man reportedly died on the spot due to the severe impact.
Officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) arrived shortly after the incident to manage traffic and begin investigations. The deceased’s body has since been conveyed to the police station as authorities work to identify him and trace the runaway driver.
The accident has reignited concerns about pedestrian safety on major highways, with many calling for increased education and enforcement to ensure that footbridges are used appropriately.
