The Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu Banahene together with security officials has arrested a 36 year old man suspected to be one of the notorious miners at the Dormaa East District
The galamsey kingpin is allegedly housing and sponsoring the activities of Galamsey in the district and his accomplice, Stephen Ansu were together arrested at one Galamsey site. A search in Kofi Damoa’s house saw two guns, cartridges and pumping machines he uses for his operations
He was taken into police custody by the security forces on the command of the regional minister. This according to the minister,will help president Akufo Addo’s aim of ending the illegal mining and it’s effects on our environment
Madam Justina Owusu Banahene also tasked the traditional rulers to take the lead in fighting this canker because according to her, they cannot watch for their rivers and forest be destroyed by some few greedy people.
