AdubianewsIsrael’s Ambassador to Ghana, Roey Gilad, has justified recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran by describing the threat from Tehran’s nuclear ambitions as both “real and urgent.”
Speaking on PM Express with Evans Mensah on Monday night, the ambassador warned that Iran now possesses enough enriched uranium to build at least nine nuclear bombs and has already launched hundreds of missiles at Israeli territory.
Ambassador Gilad made it clear that Israel’s military response is driven by self-defense, not aggression. “Whenever your enemy openly declares the intention to annihilate you and also develops the capability to do so, that’s when you must act,” he stated.
“Iran has enriched uranium to 60%, which is sufficient for nine nuclear warheads. They are building between 1,000 and 2,000 ballistic missiles and have already fired 200 at Israel.”
According to Gilad, the Israeli public strongly supports the government’s actions. “Israelis are very opinionated people, but there’s consensus now that these strikes were the right decision. The only regret some have is that it wasn’t done sooner, before Iran amassed 2,000 missiles.”
The comments follow Israel’s first wave of targeted airstrikes on Iranian military and government facilities last Friday. The strikes reportedly killed several senior Iranian military officers and have raised international concerns about escalating conflict in the Middle East. However, Ambassador Gilad insists the operations are defensive and necessary.
“We have many enemies who want to see Israel gone, but lack the means. Iran is different; it has both the intent and the capability. That’s what makes the threat unique and dangerous,” he emphasized.
When asked about the failure of diplomatic efforts, Gilad was blunt: “Iran has said the same thing since 1979. They don’t hide their intentions, and we cannot afford to wait.” He also underscored Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s firm stance: “The attacks will continue as long as necessary. And we mean it.”
The ambassador concluded with a warning to the global community: “This is not just an Israeli issue. Iran is a regime that funds global terrorism and is actively building a nuclear arsenal. The world must not underestimate the scale of the threat.”
