Public Health practitioner, Cindy Ofori Appiah, has reiterated the need for every Ghanaian to get vaccinated.

According to her, not only is the vaccine effective in preventing symptomatic disease but showing proof of vaccination is very important.

Speaking on a special programme organised by Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Wednesday, dubbed ‘One Month of Covid-19 Vaccination Assessment, Experience and Way Forward’, Madam Appiah said the card is just like a passport and should be protected as such.

The card, she noted, contains vital information including the type of vaccine one received and the dates.

Therefore, she said it was crucial to keep that information handy “in case you need it to prove your vaccination status.”

Ghana will receive an additional two million AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX Facility by the end of May, this year.

That would boost the country’s COVID-19 vaccination programme and aid the government’s quest to vaccinate about 20 million Ghanaians.

So far, Ghana has received more than 700,000 COVID-19 vaccines.
