Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings laying a wreath at Jubilee House for helicopter crash victims

Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has laid a wreath at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House in honour of the eight public servants who died in last week’s military helicopter crash. She was assisted by her son, Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings, and her Special Aide and Administrative Manager, Mildred Annan Bentil, during the ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.

The wreath-laying formed part of national mourning activities for the victims, who lost their lives in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The deceased, including Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and other senior officials, were en route to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme in Obuasi when the tragedy occurred.

In a condolence message issued last week, Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings expressed her sympathies to the families, government, and people of Ghana over the tragic loss. “Their loss is a sad one for the entire country and indeed the international community, many of whom may have interfaced with some of the departed,” she said.

She also extended heartfelt condolences to the officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces, who lost colleagues “on duty for God and country.”

The former First Lady’s gesture adds to a growing wave of tributes from political leaders, civil society, and the general public as the nation reflects on the sacrifices made by those who serve in public office.
