AdubianewsGhanaian radio personality Nana Romeo has publicly appealed to the President of Ghana, H.E. John Mahama, to place a nationwide ban on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
According to him, the platform has become a breeding ground for explicit content, which he believes is negatively influencing the youth of Ghana.
In his remarks, Nana Romeo expressed deep concern about the rising exposure of young people to sexual and morally inappropriate material on X. He argued that the platform’s lack of strict content regulation allows harmful material to circulate freely, making it easily accessible to underage users.
Nana Romeo believes this growing trend is eroding the values of Ghanaian society and contributing to moral decay among the youth. He insists that decisive action must be taken to protect the next generation from the damaging effects of unfiltered online content.
The radio host pointed out that Ghana would not be the first country to implement such a measure. Countries such as China, North Korea, Iran, and Turkmenistan have already banned X for similar reasons, including the spread of explicit content and national security concerns.
He urged the president to consider the well-being of the youth a top priority and take steps to ensure that digital platforms like X are regulated, or removed entirely, if they continue to threaten the moral development of young Ghanaians.
As conversations around social media regulation grow louder worldwide, this call from a well-known public figure adds momentum to the debate over how Ghana should navigate the influence of global digital platforms on its culture and values.
