FrimpongThe Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Kofi Owusu Omar, has waded his voice into the controversy that the selection of Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as John Mahama’s running mate has generated with respect to whether she has the potential or not.
According to him, the Muslim as a religion frowns upon situations where women are placed in leadership positions.
“The Quran does not permit a woman to play leadership roles in areas where men are supposed to dominate.”
In a panel discussion on Wontumi Radio 101.3 and TV, Chairman Omar said that, the NDC as a political party has its own biases towards women and are like to deny their own come the 2024 general elections.
According to Chairman Omar, Awua Darko should have been given the nod to compete with Dr. Bawumia.
” A general election is usually a battle for Presidential Candidates and their running mates but looking at Jane Naana’s caliber her wings can be clipped by Dr. Bawumia.
He said that, Some NDC members who wanted to be appointed as the running mate have expressed resentment at the announcement of the former Minister of Education.”
He hinted that, there is currently fire raging in the NDC because of the selection of Jane Naana which doesn’t reflect the position of section of high ranking party members.
