NPP’s General Secretary, John Boadu has levelled accusations on the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) of seeking to frustrate the government in its fight against COVID-19.
According to the NPP secretary, the NDC has always been wishing for the worse to happen to the country during this period so they can accuse President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Their prayer, John Boadu said on Accra-based Okay is for the rate of infections to increase in the country and many more die so they can blame it on the President.
“Like I always say, the NDC never aims at helping the country fight the disease…all NDC cares and prays about is for most Ghanaians to be infected with COVID-19 and many more die so they can blame it on Akufo-Addo…,” he said.
Mr Boadu chronicled a number of suggestions offered by the NDC which suggest that the NDC and its assigns have never been interested in helping Ghana to battle the disease.
“Their first advice was for us to go and bring Ghanaian students from Wuhan and that advice was bad…they even criticized the establishment of fund to fight the disease, criticized the food we were given to the vulnerable and others…these suggest they have never been interested in the general good of the citizenry…,” he added.
President Akufo-Addo during his 7th broadcast to the nation announced the lifting of the partial lockdown placed on Accra, Kumasi, Tema and Kasoa.
The NDC have since criticised the President for acting in a haste describing his actions as ‘premature’. The party had also claimed that the lockdown was lifted to pave way for the EC to compile a new voter’s register.
All these accusations, John Boadu said lacks substance arguing further that political considerations were not part of the reasons for the lifting of the ban.
