AdubianewsThe National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has made significant strides in 2025 by disbursing over GHS1.1 billion in claims to healthcare providers across Ghana.
This substantial financial commitment underscores the NHIA’s dedication to ensuring timely reimbursements and enhancing the quality of healthcare services under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
In a recent development, the NHIA released an additional GHS259.5 million to credentialed healthcare providers, covering claims submitted by public, private, mission, and quasi-public health facilities. This disbursement was approved by NHIA Chief Executive Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe and executed within a remarkable 21-day turnaround time in May 2025, reflecting the Authority’s operational efficiency .

With this recent disbursement, the total claims payments made by the NHIA so far in 2025 have exceeded GHS1.1 billion, specifically GHS1,103,028,808.59 .
Dr. Bampoe emphasized that prompt reimbursement is crucial for uninterrupted healthcare delivery and is a key measure of the NHIA’s effectiveness.
