AdubianewsNigerians living in Nigeria are throwing their support behind the ongoing ‘Nigeria Must Go’ campaign in Ghana, where a section of Ghanaians is calling for the exit of Nigerian nationals from the country.
The protestors argue that the influx of Nigerians is affecting Ghana’s local economy, citing increased competition in trade, rising incidents of prostitution, and growing crime rates.
Interestingly, some Nigerians back home believe their fellow countrymen should return and channel their investments into Nigeria’s economy rather than boosting Ghana’s. They argue that this would help build their home country’s infrastructure and job market.
Others see the current situation as a form of historical justice, referencing the “Ghana Must Go” saga of the 1980s when Nigerians expelled Ghanaians en masse. To them, this is a long-overdue payback.
They further noted that Ghanaians have worked hard to develop their nation and believe Nigerians should stay in their homeland and do the same, rather than seeking opportunities in Ghana.
