Police in Nkoranza in the Nkoranza District in the Bono East Region has arrested a lady suspected to the leader of a notorious armed robbery syndicate operating in the area and terrorizing residents
According to Police sources available to MyNewsGh.com, Gifty Abeatenku was arrested after she came to the Police station claiming ownership of a motorbike that had been used for several robberies at Nkoranza and its environs.
The Police upon Gifty’s claim of ownership of the unregistered APSONIC AP 200 GT-7 motorbike arrested her and interrogated her.
Upon interrogation, she told police that, she and her boyfriend had been lodging at ‘Big J’ Hotel for the past one month or so and had since been engaged in farming activities but the Police were not convinced with her explanation and therefore searched her hotel room.
The police upon searching their hotel room, found two pairs of commercial car number plates registered AC- 1730-20 and GT- 4545-19 together with three lives BB cartridges, in addition to a traveling bag which she claimed ownership.
However, the lady Gifty Abeatenku did not mention the name of the said boyfriend she has been lodging in the hotel with. She has since been detained and assisting the Police in its investigation.
