AdubianewsThe New Patriotic Party (NPP) has joined Ghanaians in mourning the passing of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group of Companies.
The visionary inventor, philanthropist, and religious leader, affectionately known as the “Star of Africa,” died on Thursday, September 11, 2025, after a brief illness.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP described Apostle Safo as more than a spiritual leader, lauding his groundbreaking contributions to Ghana’s technological and industrial development. “He embodied local ingenuity, innovation, and the can-do spirit of the African,” the party stated.
The release highlighted Apostle Safo’s achievements in agriculture, industrial innovation, and automobile manufacturing through his pioneering work with the Kantanka Group.
The party also commended his role in establishing wholly Ghanaian-owned enterprises, including Kantanka Automobile, which has grown into one of Africa’s leading technology conglomerates.
According to the NPP, his entrepreneurial vision secured him a place in history as a generational inventor and a source of enduring inspiration for the nation.
Beyond his technological feats, Apostle Safo was also remembered for his loyalty to the NPP. The party acknowledged his strong support, particularly in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, where his daughter, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, served three terms as a Member of Parliament. “The late Apostle was a great pillar of support for the NPP, particularly in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency,” the statement emphasized.
Offering words of comfort, the NPP extended its condolences to the bereaved family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and the entire country. “The party also commiserates with the rest of the nation for the painful loss of this extraordinary, illustrious citizen. May the soul of our dearly departed find comfort in God’s bosom, and may the family he left behind, and indeed, all of us in the Party and beyond, find fortitude to bear this great loss,” the statement concluded.
