Eric Twum, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, has called on the Mamprusi and Kusasi factions in Bawku to embrace peace and reconciliation following recent mediation efforts led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, December 17, Twum acknowledged that while not all parties may be completely satisfied with the mediation outcomes, prioritising peace is essential for the community to move forward.

“I believe the mediation process should be commended, and the key stakeholders must allow peace to prevail. Some individuals may not be entirely happy with the results, but when peace is upheld, normalcy and vibrancy will return,” he said, urging support for government efforts to ensure stability in the region.

The Asantehene also emphasised that the mediation report on the Bawku conflict, which was formally submitted to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, at Jubilee House, should be binding on all parties.

Otumfuo clarified that the initiative was a mediation exercise, not arbitration, stressing that voluntary compliance by all stakeholders is necessary to achieve lasting harmony in the Bawku area.
