AdubianewsAn okada rider has died following a hit-and-run crash involving a commercial bus, popularly known as a trotro, at Tetegu on the busy Accra–Kasoa highway. The tragic incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when the speeding bus rammed into the motorcycle, which was carrying a passenger.
The violent impact claimed the rider’s life instantly, while the pillion passenger narrowly escaped death but sustained severe injuries. Eyewitnesses say the trotro driver, aware of the casualties, fled the scene immediately after the collision, sparking outrage among onlookers.
Police officers later arrived at the scene, conveying the deceased’s body to the mortuary and rushing the injured passenger to the hospital for urgent medical care.
The deceased was known to operate his motorcycle transport business at Old Barrier along the Kasoa road. Colleagues described him as a hard-working rider who was widely respected within the community.
News of his untimely death has left fellow riders at Old Barrier in grief and shock. Many described the crash as an avoidable tragedy caused by reckless driving and called for justice to be served.
The police have launched investigations into the incident and are appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the runaway trotro driver.
