Wrecked Hyundai minivan and truck after fatal crash at Adansi Akrokeri Junction

A tragic road crash at Adansi Akrokeri Junction near Obuasi has claimed one life and left two others seriously injured after a Hyundai minivan and a Hyundai truck collided head-on.

A statement issued by Divisional Officer II Peter Addai, the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service, confirmed that the deceased—believed to be the minivan driver—died instantly. The two injured victims, who were passengers on the Hyundai truck, were rushed to a nearby hospital before the Fomena rescue team arrived at the scene.

According to the Fire Service, the accident occurred when the minivan driver attempted an unsafe overtaking manoeuvre, resulting in a direct collision with the oncoming truck. The impact left both vehicles severely damaged, with the truck veering off the road into a ditch.

The Fomena rescue team successfully extricated the body of the deceased and handed it over to the police for further action.

The Fire Service PRO cautioned drivers to avoid needless and wrongful overtaking, stressing that such risky behaviours continue to fuel the rising number of preventable road accidents across the country.
