AdubianewsParliament’s Appointments Committee will today, Friday, July 25, vet the last batch of deputy ministerial nominees put forward by President John Dramani Mahama. The vetting process is being conducted in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
All four nominees are current Members of Parliament and were nominated to bolster the effectiveness of various ministries as the administration continues its final wave of ministerial appointments.
Among those scheduled to appear before the Committee is Dorcas Affo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, who has been nominated as Deputy Minister for Transport. Also facing vetting is Assin North MP James Gyakye Quayson, who is up for the role of Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West, has been nominated for the position of Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, while Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, representing Essikado-Ketan, is set to be vetted as Deputy Minister of Health.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin referred the nominations to the Appointments Committee on July 17, initiating the final stage of the vetting process for President Mahama’s deputy ministerial team.
This session marks the closing round of deputy ministerial vettings under the current administration. Upon successful approval by Parliament, the nominees will assist their respective sector ministers in implementing government programs and improving public service delivery.
