Pressure is mounting on the Presidential advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, to contest as national chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A group calling itself Concerned Patriots said the medical practitioner of over four decades of experience is the ideal person to command affairs of the party ahead of the 2024 elections.
The group has already flooded social media and parts of the capital Accra with posters of Dr Nsiah-Asare touting him as a man with the requisite skillset to consolidate the peace being enjoyed in the party into the 2024 elections.
“Sustaining a peaceful party into 2024” is the tagline of the posters.
Dr Nsiah-Asare, a former director-general of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), is yet to officially comment on the group’s call.
A former MP and deputy Speaker of Parliament, Freddie Blay, is currently the national chairman of the NPP.
