The Sensational Prampram pallbearers Known as Nana Otafrija Pallbearing Services are set to upgrade their usual services, to a higher height likely to see their rate increase.
In an Interview with Geovani Caleb on TV3, Benjamin Aidoo, leader of the pallbearers reveled they will charge in dollars if they are to work outside the country to deliver service.

Locally though, their prices which used to range between GHC 1,500 and 2,500 will see an increase after the coronavirus pandemic because of the exposure they have received.
He added that, pallbearing has always been a passion which began while he was studying metalwork at Kinbu Senior High School in Accra. He joined the Lashibi Funeral homes after completing SHS until he moved to start his own business.
Describing the nature of the work, Benjamin Aidoo said before the coronavirus pandemic, his team was usually engaged for an average of five(5) or six(6) contracts in a week.
The team’s mode of operation and style of delivery is dependent on the specific needs of clients-he explained
“On the average, we have 5 or 6 funerals on a weekend…Most at times working with transitions, they have a brand so they like solemn so we don’t dance in Transition. What the client will request that is what we will do
“After the corona, coming to me personally I will be charging more. But working with the company is a fixed price. We will charge with the attire, we have black and white, black and red, we have fugu and we have all white, the white is expensive. The basic is GHC 1,500, the highest we charge will be GHC 2,500. After this I will be charging in dollars when I’m going outside Ghana,” he told Giovanni Caleb.
The job is however not always straightforward; there are some regrets sometimes, according to Benjamin Aidoo. He recounts an experience where he believes his company ‘undercharged’ a client whose corpse was three times the size of the corpse they usually carry.
“We got there and it was too late, we’d already taken the money and we had to carry the body,” he noted.
According to Benjamin his family did not support him when he began pallbearing and people refused to eat with them until they became an internet sensation.
He also said they do pray before carrying the coffin, “We pray before we carry the coffin, we pray to God. Because some people have very bad eyes and they want the coffin to fall and so we pray.”
He noted that he has a Kenyan Manager and Lawyer who deals with his clients, especially those from outside the country.
If given a ‘coronavirus body’ to carry, the Prampram pallbearers said, “We will charge twice the amount.”
Meanwhile, People who would want to join them will have to fill a form and audition before they are accepted.
