Zinedine Zidane is hopeful defensive pair Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane will both be fit to face Chelsea on Wednesday.
Real Madrid have work to do in order to reach the Champions League final after last week’s 1-1 draw in the home leg of their semi-final with the Blues.
But their manager suggested they have received a timely boost ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge with the return of two key players.
Captain Ramos hasn’t played since the end of March after suffering a calf injury, while Varane suffered a minor injury and went off at half-time during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Osasuna.
‘I hope Varane has a small thing, he thinks it is a small thing and I hope so,’ Zidane told Movistar after Saturday’s game.
‘I hope Ramos is back. If he’s good, he’ll be with us.’
Ramos has returned to training but he watched from the stands as the first leg against Chelsea ended in a 1-1 draw last Tuesday. Karim Benzema cancelled out the early away goal scored by Christian Pulisic.
Real prepared for the return leg with a 2-0 win over Osasuna earned thanks to late goals from Eder Militao and Casemiro. The result returns them to just two points behind LaLiga leaders Atletico Madrid with four games left to play.
‘I’m happy for Militao, when he wasn’t playing he was calm, he worked hard and waited for his opportunity. He is doing very well,’ Zidane added.
Real will have to wait and see whether Fede Valverde, who contracted Covid-19, and the injured Ferland Mendy are fit enough to make the squad travelling to London.
