Minutes after the death of former President J.J. Rawlings hit the airwaves, dozens of mourners troop to the Ridge office of the country’s longest-serving leader to confirm the news.
Some shocked Ghanaians converged at the Ridge office of the former military strongman to validate the news.
With their heads either buried in their face or on their heads, they were seen peeping through the closed doors of the white-washed walls.
The former President is reported to have died of an unknown illness.at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Jerry John Rawlings was born on June 22, 1947. He was a former Ghanaian military leader who transitioned into a democratic leader.
He led the military junta until 1992 and then served two terms as the democratically elected President of Ghana.
He died at the age of 73, leaving behind a wife and four children.
