AdubianewsThe Ghana Police Service has confirmed that calm has been restored in Sampa, a town in the Bono Region, after violent clashes linked to a chieftaincy dispute left one person dead and several others injured on Wednesday, September 10.
In a statement, the Police revealed that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) immediately dispatched reinforcement teams to the area to stabilise the situation and protect lives and property.
Security has since been boosted with intensified patrols in Sampa and surrounding communities to prevent further violence.
The disturbance, which stemmed from a long-standing chieftaincy disagreement, initially sparked fear and tension among residents until the intervention of security personnel.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the violence, though the identities of the deceased and injured have not yet been released.
Reassuring the public, the Police reiterated their commitment to safeguarding communities affected by traditional leadership disputes, noting that such disputes have historically triggered unrest in different parts of Ghana.
