The widow of the late Samuel Aboagye says she will forever hold onto the love they shared, especially his final words to her on August 6, just hours before the helicopter crash that claimed his life. “Take care, babe. I love you,” he told her in what would be their last conversation.

At the State burial service for the eight victims of the crash, she spoke through tears, describing Aboagye as “my partner, my safe place, my joy, and my best friend.” She reflected on their life together, filled with laughter, devotion, and unwavering affection.

“From the moment you entered my life, you gave me more than I ever imagined: unwavering love, joy, protection, and the beautiful honour of becoming your wife. You gifted me our precious daughters, living testaments of the bond we built,” she said.

She highlighted his dedication to both family and career, recalling how his resilience and compassion kept them strong even through difficult moments. “Your strength carried us through challenges that could have broken us. But we always found our way back because we chose each other, over and over again,” she added.

Among her cherished memories was a birthday note he had written earlier this year: “Happy Birthday, my love! You are not only my wife but also my best friend and the greatest blessing in my life. I thank God every day for you, and I look forward to creating more beautiful memories together.”

Holding back tears, she revealed she had been counting the days to reunite with him in Atlanta, Georgia, before tragedy struck. “This month, I was counting down the days until I would see you again in Atlanta, Georgia. Now, instead of being in your arms, I am here mourning you,” she said.

She ended her tribute with a final farewell: “Samuel Aboagye, my dear husband, rest well!! Rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord!!”
