FrimpongOn 27th Of April 2018 , Residents of Axim in the Western Region of Ghana were thrown in ecstatic mood after the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Isaac Asiamah and his team landed there to cut a sod for the construction of a multi-purpose sporting facility for the development of sports and recreation in the area.
The Sports Minister whose commitment is to develop sports in the country knows no bounds and does not discriminate and was happy a historic sporting facility will be built for the people soon.
The project forms part of government’ initiatives to promote and encourage the youth in sports .The project according to our research was part of $12 billion USD budget for construction and renovations of 15 stadia in the country.
Axim Sports Complex on fair grounds will cost Ghana $1m USD .The facility will have 5,000 ultra modern sports stadium, contains an ICT centre, counselling centre, track and multi purpose sports courts, athletic Tatiana, FIFA standard pitch, modern restaurant, washrooms and toilets facilities.
It was expected to be completed early this year but land litigations and outbreak of novel coronavirus has been the secret behind the project’s delay.
LAND LITIGATION
There is still a pending issue which is between Madam Sophia Eshun ( An old woman whose 12th Apostolic church and properties have been affected ) due to the Project and the state.
Per our checks Madam Sophia who is in her early 90’s was not happy about the treatment she is receiving from the supervisors, her 4plots, 8 bedroom house, uncompleted 4 bedroom house and church was evaluated for Ghc 120,000 instead of Correct valuation figure of Ghc 400,000.
Madam Sophia in an interview with us broke the news that she has received the said amount of (Ghc 120,000) all in the name of Axim Community development but pleaded on behalf of the central assembly to reconsider and assist her financially to remove the Spiritual Jesus Christ cross ”
“I don’t want to go far, how old am I now, I don’t need any money but the truth must be told ” the valuation is way beyond the line, look at my properties, but just because we all want our community to develop, we accepted it in good faith, but the truth is that we can’t go without our symbol of cross, so I wrote to the assembly to assist us to remove the cross which is the faith and symbol of our God we worship ” She told West End Hard Tackle Sports on Monday May 20 , 2019.
Removing and remounting the Spiritual cross can cost us Ghc 50,000 and more ,Emmanuel Ngoah ,the family spokesperson told domesticsportsgh.com in an interview last Thursday .
Madam Sophia Eshun was supposed to vacate the area on 1st February 2020 according to the letter signed by the Municipal Coordinating Director Robert Armoh, but such move couldn’t happen due to the cross issues .
THE ASSEMBLY
Axim Municipal Assembly is the right supervisor of the said project. Per our checks and crunch meeting we had with Hon Franko on Wednesday May 22 , 2019 he said the land and properties which has been affected due to the project has already been valuated and their monies are in, some have even collected theirs he even showed us the rough sketch of Ghc 385,000 as total money in for the compensations .
The list reads :
Janet Osei – Ghc 36,876.
Anthony Donkor – Ghc 10,850.
Kingsford Arthur -Ghc 60,125 .
Kwaw Nyame – Ghc 13,405 .
Koomson – 105,635.00
Sophia Eshun – 124,096 .
Christopher Ngoah – 37,240.
On issues with regards to madam Sophia Eshun ,the MCE Said the valuations process has been done already and he can’t do anything about it .
”The central government is the one in charge of the payment , we are here to initiate the payment to affected areas” since you have accepted the amount of Ghc 120,000 what else again, Hon Franko told Westendfmonline.com in a private chat at his office in Axim .
THE LATEST
After Crunch family meeting held on Thursday , The Ngoah family have listed items and submitted their final proposal to the assembly to assist them relocate the cross to their new home which will be completed this month .
Therefore they are pleading, the paramount chiefs, the MPs, MCE’s, Media and good people of Axim and Nzema to help them resolve all the issues to pave way for Axim Sports Complex.
” We are pleading with the authorities who matter most, our respected chiefs, Political figures, the media, Axim community to assist them resolve all issues for the government to complete this beautiful edifice which will directly boost the economic rates in our beautiful land ” Emmanuel Ngoah told West End Sports .
