AdubianewsThe New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opined that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ex-president John Mahama is vying for the 2020 elections for his own selfish reasons.
According to the NPP, if ex-president Mahama really had the interest of Ghana and the NDC at heart, he would have supported a different candidate to run for the 2020 presidential election.
The National Organizer of the NPP, Samuel Awuku speaking at a press conference monitored by Happy 98.9 FM said, “If it was for the interest of the NDC, Mahama would’ve supported his colleagues to run for the 2020 elections. The NDC should not doubt that they are losing the 2020 general elections.
Mahama is not interested in the succession plan of the NDC. He is not in the presidential race for the NDC and does not have the interest of the ordinary Ghanaian at heart. But Ghana needs a selfless and bold leader and that is president Akufo-Addo.”
Sammy Awuku indicated that former president John Mahama had eight (8) years to make Ghana better but rather led the country on a downward spiral “and that is why he suffered the worst defeat in Ghana’s history.”
He furthered that former President J.J Rawlings having foresight saw the selfish agenda of candidate Mahama and that is why the founder of the NDC refused to vote for his own party in 2016 and has promised to do same in 2020.
Championing President Akufo-Addo as the man to lead Ghana for another term, he said, “Nana is a man of courage and compassion. He is a man for the job because NDC is not ready for the December polls.”
Sammi Awuku appealed to all Ghanaians to come out in their numbers and vote for President Akufo-Addo come election 2020. “Vote for the NPP to protect you, vote for the NPP for hope and not hopelessness. Choose prosperity over poverty.”
