AdubianewsA tipper truck driver is in critical condition after being shot in the eye by armed robbers at Gomoa Potsin, along the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region. The driver, employed by Nag Fairmount Construction, was attacked while on duty.
Gomoa Dominase District Police Commander, ASP Richard Ahiagbor, confirmed the incident and revealed that it occurred during a robbery operation. He noted that the area has seen a worrying rise in criminal activity in recent days.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, ASP Ahiagbor disclosed that police have recorded over four robbery incidents in the area within the past week alone.
Residents who spoke to Adom News expressed fear and frustration, claiming that ongoing road construction along the highway is being exploited by criminals to launch attacks. They are appealing to the Central Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, and other authorities to take immediate action to enhance security in the area.
ASP Ahiagbor assured the public that the police have responded by increasing visibility along the stretch. Several new checkpoints have been mounted to help prevent further attacks and restore calm in the community.
