AdubianewsGhanaians seeking U.S. visas have been assured of a fair and transparent process by the Consul General at the U.S. Embassy in Ghana, Mr. Elliot Fertik.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Tuesday, June 24, Mr. Fertik stressed that visa denials are not intentional or targeted, but strictly based on adherence to established guidelines.
“The requirements are strict; we do absolutely look carefully at each individual applicant to make sure that they are qualified and do not pose any problem for the United States,” he explained. “But if you abide by the rules, we will welcome you in the United States.”
Mr. Fertik highlighted that thousands of Ghanaians have successfully travelled to the U.S. through legitimate means. “There are many Ghanaians who have had wonderful experiences going on a short trip to the United States,” he noted, encouraging others to follow the correct procedures.
Addressing a common concern, Mr. Fertik made it clear that no visa quota system exists for non-immigrant applicants. “For non-immigrant visas, no. I can say that there are some for immigrant visas; we do have a quota or limit for each individual country, but for non-immigrant visas, there is no quota,” he stated.
He also advised applicants to steer clear of unofficial agents or consultants who often provide misleading information. Instead, he urged prospective travelers to use only official U.S. visa channels and to provide honest, accurate documentation during the process.
Mr. Fertik concluded by reaffirming the embassy’s dedication to fairness and integrity. “Prepare well, be truthful, follow the rules, and you stand a fair chance. Shortcuts and misinformation only work against you,” he advised.
