US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reminded football fans planning to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup that holding a ticket does not guarantee entry into the United States. He stressed that the excitement around the tournament should not distract travelers from key immigration requirements.
Rubio noted that many fans mistakenly assume a ticket serves as permission to enter the host country. He clarified that all visitors must secure the appropriate visa well before travel, regardless of their matchday bookings.
The Secretary of State emphasized that US immigration rules remain unchanged for the World Cup. Fans who fail to meet visa conditions will be denied entry at the border, even if they possess valid match tickets.
His caution comes as global anticipation builds for the 2026 tournament, which the United States will co-host. Authorities are urging supporters to complete travel documentation early to avoid last-minute complications.
