A local resident of Aflao identified as Israel Emmanuel Ahedor has released a video that shows what exactly is happening at the Aflao border amid reports of military presence in the area. The video was sighted by YEN.com.gh on the personal Twitter handle of Israel where the young man indicated that absolutely nothing unusual was going on.
According to Israel, he believes there is a lot of propaganda that is being associated with the reports of military deployment at the Ghana-Togo border when it is business as usual in the area.
Borders are to remain closed yet some soldiers and custom officers are taking money to allow people cross the border. Anas, does this motorist have the moral right to play the Ewe victim card if he’s arrested upon trying to cross the border?
NDC, stop the propaganda and lies. pic.twitter.com/oHgQmMAXVK— Israel Emmanuel Ahedor (@israel_catalyst) June 29, 2020
Israel may, however, not be right with his opinion, although he truthfully did not spot military men in the area at the time of his visit. This is because Ghana’s president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has not opened the borders to travel since he instituted a travel ban to help contain the spread of COVID-19. If military men are at any borders to ensure there are no foreigners coming into Ghana to register for the voters’ registration cards as Hon KT Hammond alleged in a viral video, then they must be at unapproved routes to enforce the order.
