Responding to a failed propaganda video interview posted on Facebook by fans of the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, son of the first President of Ghana, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, has reminded the former President of the reasons why he was rejected overwhelmingly by discerning Ghanaians at the polls in 2016. In a short but precise comment on the video, Dr. Nkrumah, in reference to John Dramani Mahama, stated, “He was voted out for incompetence and corruption so why is he still talking?”
Mahama granted the interview to Radio XYZ and Woezor TV, owned by his former Director of Communications, Stan Dogbe, in Kete Krachi and in the interview, sought to explain, among other things, matters related to Kotoka International Airport, which had no factual basis. For instance, the former President claimed that 66% of the Kotoka International Airport had been sold for $70million; a statement without any factual basis. Indeed, the sale of such a significant stake in a national asset cannot be done without the approval of Parliament. Mr. Mahama ought to know that such a transaction must be submitted to Parliament pursuant to Article 181 (5) of the Constitution.
Dr. Nkrumah, who has been a fierce critic of former President Mahama, said recently that “Mahama’s incompetence and corrupt administration account for reasons why he was rejected in the previous general elections and that Ghanaians are not fools to be lied to or bombarded with propaganda to get them convinced to vote for Mahama who they rejected just four years ago.”
Truly, former President Mahama continues to struggle to rebrand himself to Ghanaians who will vote in less than four months.
