Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama says the next NDC government will transform the economy by investing in technology when elected into office.
Speaking at the launch of his campaign at Sehwi Wiawso in the Western Region Wednesday, he said improving technology is imperative to boosting the country’s rate of development.
“To create sustainable and ever growing prosperity – something we all deserve – it requires building a robust social and economic infrastructure; one that supports creativity, innovation and the production of high-value added products and services.
“The risk of becoming a country trapped in poverty is unfortunately boosted by the fact that whiles we are fighting hard to consolidate our status as a developing country, the advanced nations are in the middle of the fourth industrial revolution, transitioning from a post-industrial world to the world of smart technology and from a production-based economy to a knowledge-based one”.
The former President claims that Ghana’s economy was grown by $14 billion during his tenure in office, as compared to the $4 billion by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He maintained that his government did a better job despite facing an Ebola threat.
Mr. Mahama, in preparation for the December 2020 Presidential elections virtually launched his “door-to-door” campaign at Dwinase Zongo, highlighting a number of policies his new government intends to implement when given the nod.
He listed other promises like creating jobs for the youth as well as establishing a Gold Board to manage the affairs of Gold mining in the country.
