AdubianewsA middle-aged woman believed to have previously shoplifted from a boutique in Koforidua has been apprehended while allegedly attempting to repeat the same crime.
According to the store owner, the woman first visited the boutique about three months ago, pretending to be a customer interested in buying clothes. During that visit, she reportedly grabbed a number of items and ran off while staff were distracted. The incident, though caught on CCTV, ended with the suspect escaping.
Her most recent visit, however, did not go as planned. Staff recognized her from the earlier footage and remained alert. As she allegedly attempted to pull the same stunt, she was quickly stopped and detained before she could leave the premises.
The boutique owner stated that the incident has been reported to the police, and the woman is likely to face charges. He added that the store has had to step up security measures due to a rise in petty theft cases and is now urging fellow business owners in the area to remain vigilant and invest in surveillance equipment.
