You must think to rescue economy – Mahama to Akuffo Addo

Ex President, John Dramani Mahama and the flag bearer of the opposition NDC has descended heavily on government for building an economy on propaganda.

According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed badly the economy which he said has been touted by the Nana Addo led government as the best in the history of Ghana.

Speaking in an address on Facebook on Thursday, Mr. Mahama likened Ghana’s economy to a sick person in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital.
” Unfortunately this government has used a lot of propaganda. They said the economy has been the best that we have ever had since independence.”

“Unfortunately in just one month of coronavirus and the economy is in ICU,” he said.

He added that “If we didn’t run to the IMF for the $1billion credit facility it is possible that in the next two months probably salaries would not have been paid.”

“And so our economy is on ventilators and it needs thinking to rescue it from the ICU and that is why we are continuing to review what government is doing, we are looking at what the figures are,” he opined.
