Diella TekuIn a heartfelt moment of wisdom and encouragement, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called on Samira Bawumia, wife of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, to lead her campaign with humility, grace, and respect as the 2024 elections approach.
During a courtesy visit on Wednesday, October 9, as part of her week-long campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, the Asantehene advised Samira to focus on the substance of her message and the vision of her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and their party, urging her to avoid divisive rhetoric.
Emphasizing the need for decorum in the political space, he highlighted the importance of a peaceful and respectful campaign, free from insults and violence, that fosters unity and constructive dialogue.
“I’m pleased to see you so involved in the campaign, supporting your husband. Men succeed when they have dedicated wives by their side,” the Asantehene remarked, offering his blessings to Samira. He reminded her that leadership is ordained by God and encouraged her to continue spreading her message with poise.
His remarks come as a timely reminder for political actors to embrace civility and integrity as the nation heads towards crucial elections.
