 Black Stars Gear Up for 2025 Unity Cup in London

The Ghanaian national football team, the Black Stars, have assembled in London to commence preparations for the 2025 Unity Cup. The tournament, set to take place at Brentford’s GTech Community Stadium, features Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago. Ghana is scheduled to face Nigeria in the semi-final on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 .

Squad Composition and New Additions Head coach Otto Addo has named a 23-man squad, integrating a mix of experienced players and fresh talent. Notably, five players have received their first call-ups to the senior

national team:

●Joseph Tetteh Anang (St. Patrick’s Athletic, Ireland): A former England U20 international, Anang has been in impressive form in the Irish league, recording seven.

●Caleb Yirenkyi (FC Nordsjaelland, Denmark)

The squad sees the absence of key players such as Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Antoine Semenyo. Their omissions are attributed to various factors, including injuries and club commitments, as the Unity Cup does not fall within the official FIFA international window .

Sixteen players reported for the initial training session in West London on Monday, May 26, with the full squad expected to be in camp by Tuesday, May 27 . The Unity Cup serves as a strategic platform for the Black Stars to assess new talent and refine tactics ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
