AdubianewsAn outspoken supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has blamed illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as galamsey, for the August 6 military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two senior government ministers.
Speaking with visible anger, the NDC sympathizer alleged that environmental damage caused by galamsey operations played a role in the tragedy. He issued a stern warning to those engaged in the practice:
The helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, and five others, including senior military officers.
While the official investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, the remark has sparked debate on social media, with some backing the hardline stance against illegal miners and others condemning the call for extrajudicial actions.
