President John Mahama has purchased the first copy of veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr’s newly launched book, “Reparations: History, Struggle, Politics and Law”, for GHS 200,000. The launch attracted a wide audience of political leaders, academics, and activists who hailed the work as a timely contribution to Africa’s discourse on justice.
The book explores the historical, political, and legal foundations of reparations, highlighting both global and African struggles for compensation and restorative justice. It is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers, researchers, and campaigners advocating for reparations on the continent.
In his address at the launch, Mahama stressed the importance of works like Pratt’s in shaping national dialogue, while also drawing laughter from the audience when he joked that presidential pledges at public events often become the responsibility of the Chief of Staff to fulfil.
