Tragedy struck the Kwabre East Municipality on Thursday, September 11, when the lifeless body of a NADMO staff member was discovered in a stream between Abira and Krobo.
The deceased, identified as 60-year-old Thomas Obeng, worked with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) at the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly. Obeng, who had been recovering from an illness, reportedly travelled from Abira to visit his wife in Krobo.
Although he informed his wife that he was returning to Abira, he never made it home. His body was later found in the stream under circumstances that remain unclear.
Police retrieved the body and deposited it at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue for further investigations.
Confirming the incident, Assembly Member for the Abira Electoral Area, Isaac Owusu Bempah, said residents were left in shock by the sudden death.
