Ghanaian-Romanian musician Wanlov the Kubolor has shared a touching reflection about his upbringing, revealing that his father never beat him during childhood, a gesture he believes shaped his calm and compassionate personality.
In an interview, Wanlov stated that his father never resorted to physical punishment, even when he misbehaved. According to him, this nurturing approach helped him grow without developing a “wicked mind.”
“Throughout my childhood, my father never beat me, so I didn’t have a wicked mind,” he said.
He explained that while in high school, he once joined his peers in punishing younger students, but soon realized it was against his nature. That experience, he said, reminded him of the peaceful and empathetic foundation his parents had instilled in him.
Wanlov, known for his unique style and outspoken personality, continues to use his music and lifestyle to promote individuality, freedom, and compassion.
