FrimpongThe Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party [NPP], Bernard Antwi Bosiako commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, has strongly warned the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Collins Dauda, to desist from deploying tugs to attack his political opponents in the ongoing new voters’ registration exercise.
The NPP Chairman claimed he had picked up intelligence that Collins Dauda was behind the agitations and fights that started at some areas in the Asutifi South constituency on Tuesday 30th June, 2020.
He says “I am sending a warning to Collins Dauda. He is growing and must stop this childish act. He is behind the many troubles that happened at Asutifi South during yesterday’s registration exercise.”
He continued that “I will storm the area and discipline Collins Dauda. All bad things are associated with him. If he thinks he has police protection as an MP, he should think twice. Some people would take the fight to his family members who don’t have state protection and he will feel sorry”.
Meanwhile, the MP claimed on an Accra based radio station that he was attacked whilst monitoring the process.
According to him, when he visited the Methodist Primary School registration center at Acherensua, he was provoked by a man who took out a bottle of pepper spray and shot it directly into his eyes.
He reported that the intervention of police personnel who were present saved him and was later rushed to a health facility for treatment.
“As MP, I went out to see how the registration is going on and at the Methodist Primary School. At the center, a gentleman pulled out something and without provocation, he sprayed into my eyes and it turned out to be pepper spray. It happened in the midst of police men deployed from the regional command at Goaso. They put me into their car and took me to the hospital where I received treatment at Acherensua Health Center,” he said.
