Four Arrested For Beating A Police Officer To Death.

Four hoodlums have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command on Monday, September 14. It is alleged that the four persons arrested were involved in beating to death of a police officer that is  yet-to-be-identified.

The incident happened at Dalemo, Sango, in the Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the hoodlums were hired by a commercial truck driver who was salty with the deceased.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this development via a statement released on Monday.

The suspects have been identified as:Elijah Samson, 36, Moses Proboye, 34, Amidu Bankole, 34 and Jelili Ismaila, 22.

Oyeyemi stated that the suspected hoodlums beat the policeman till he was a unconcious at about 9:30pm on Sunday.

“While trying not to hit the vehicle conveying the officers, the truck entered a pothole as a result of which its tyre got punctured.

 “This made the two policemen to come down and caution the truck driver to always be mindful of other road users. But the driver accused them of being at fault, thereby mobilising hoodlums who attacked the officers and their principal with weapons and beat the deceased to a coma.

“Having realised that the policeman may not survive the attack, the driver and his hired hoodlums took to their heels. But luck ran out on four of them when the DPO and his men on a tip-off stormed their hideout and got them arrested, while four others escaped.

Oyeyemi also added that a massive manhunt is currently ongoing for the suspects that are on the run.
