Today, August 18, there has been chaos at Kabul airport as people try to flee the capital, which has fallen to the Taliban.
Women were filmed sobbing and pleading with US troops to allow them to flee on an evacuation flight, saying: “Please assist! The Taliban are on their way.”
Meanwhile, the Taliban have been filmed firing gunshots into the air and whipping people to control the crowds at the crowded airport.
The Taliban gunmen have reportedly surrounded the airport, with those on the ground reporting that they are deciding who can and cannot leave.
